Our 50th Anniversary
Thursday 09 March 2017

On March 9 th 2017 the committee , members and special guests were treated to a wonderful lecture and recital by Peter Medhurst with a buffet lunch to celebrate our 50th anniversary at our meeting place Bourne End Community Centre. The society is the third oldest in the country and was founded by Lesley Robinson known to everyone as Lally.  The society has been holding lectures at this community centre since 1967 and one of our founding members Anne Lunnon  was able to attend and presented with a bouquet of flowers. She can remember a lecture by Arthur Negus  in November of that year who spoke about The history of furniture design. Her comments in her diary at the time were that he was " a very quiet and unassuming man".

The day concluded with a history of the society delivered by our area Chiltern Hills chairman elect Caroline Symington and the cake was cut by NADFAS chairman June Robinson with area chairman Dory Thompson delivering the toast to the members. Caroline echoed the feelings of all present when she said that our society owed much to  Lally Robinson's enterprise and enthusiasm but also that of all past members and committees for all their dedication to the society over the past 50 years.
